What happens when I arrive in Thailand on my OA Visa?
You present your OA e-Visa PDF to Thai Immigration upon arrival at the airport or entry point. Thailand Blueprint provides this document to you through the secure client portal (opens in a new tab) after the visa is issued.
Upon entry, Immigration will stamp you into Thailand. If your health insurance policy expires before the 12-month mark from your entry date, Immigration will stamp you in only until the policy expiry date rather than for a full 12 months from arrival. This is why the duration of your insurance policy needs to be planned carefully in relation to your intended travel date.
The OA visa entry process does not require any follow-up appointment or extension after you land. Your 12-month permitted stay begins at the border. This is the defining practical advantage of the OA over the Non-O, where a second stage inside Thailand is required after arrival.
