Answers · Non-OA Retirement Visa
Does the OA require me to visit a Thai Embassy or Consulate in person?
Almost never. The OA application is submitted through the Thai Embassy or Consulate’s e-Visa system, which means the majority of the process can be handled remotely. Thailand Blueprint manages the preparation, formatting, and submission of your application through the client portal (opens in a new tab) without requiring you to physically visit an Embassy or Consulate in most cases.
Your proof of location document, which is typically a recent utility bill, government-issued ID showing an address, or a driver’s license, determines which Thai Embassy or Consulate your application is submitted through. The Embassy you apply through must correspond with the country where you are currently located and can demonstrate residency.
An important practical note: if you are applying from a country that is not your country of citizenship or primary residence, some Thai Embassies impose additional requirements. For example, applying through the Thai Embassy in Vietnam generally requires a full Vietnamese Permanent Residence Card. A tourist visa in the country where you are applying often does not suffice. Thailand Blueprint assesses this during the eligibility call and advises on the correct Embassy or Consulate for your specific situation.
